This is an abstract that I did while on a recent trip to Maui. I think I was somewhat influenced by some Hawaiian colors.
I did this on my iPad in an app called Procreate. Procreate is a go-to app for many artists who paint on their iPads. It is sold as an illustration app, but I use it as a painting app with no problems.
My husband went hiking this morning and I got up early so I could see the sunrise. It was gorgeous. I’m go glad I bothered to get my rear end out of bed.
We have been on Maui for a month and we go home next week. I’ve seen and photographed lots of sunsets. But a sunrise is different. It is more delicate. It comes in so subtly. No matter how you edit it, it stays very soft and simple.
Sunrise is a great time of day. No one is out and about. You can sit and drink your coffee and no one bothers you. It was just me, Maalaea Bay and this beautiful sunrise coming up over Haleakala volcano.
To say I don’t want to go home next week is putting it mildly.
This is a piece I made with a 3D app from Pixite Apps. The specific app is called Matter App.
It has several 3D shapes. You can let the shapes reflect from your surface or you can put an image or a color inside the 3D shape.
I used SuperimposeX to layer gradients and textures under the initial piece.
Pixite has several great apps for iPhone and iPad. I highly recommend the price of a few dollars that these apps cost.
This is a painting I just did in Painter 2019.
This recent update of Painter is very refreshing. Instead of giving us some gimmick that we don’t need or want, Corel worked on fixing bugs in the app and working under the hood to improve performance. The app now works a whole lot better.
This painting was a fun one to paint. I started it as a painting with lots of watercolor drips. Then these wonderful animals just started appearing out of the drips. Next I saw the flowers.
This is a painting that started as a drippy water color. I used colors that I don’t usually use. But I really loved them, so I continued with them and switched over to acrylics and liquid inks.
It’s always interesting to go with something new in a painting. It leads me down a new road and usually it’s a good road.
It’s the same way in life.
It’s not easy to try a new road. It’s easier to stay doing what you know. It’s safe and you know the outcome. But really in the long term it becomes boring.
I’m glad I tried these new colors. I think they’re yummy. I’m using them again in my newest painting.
Have a good day and let yourself try something new.
My neighbors grow some gorgeous roses. I love to take my iPhone and go for a walk in my neighborhood and take photos of their roses.
This particular rose is one of my favorites. Year after year It has given me superb photos.
The best part about photographing your neighbor’s roses is you don’t have to hassle with the care of the roses. No dealing with aphids or any of that.
Have a great day.
These are more shells I did. I used an app called Decim8 after I shot the shells.
Decim8 takes pixels and mixes them up and down and sideways. It is known as a Glitch app. There are several Glitch apps out there for iPad and iPhone but this is one of the better ones. Unfortunately this one really only works on the iPhone.
It is slow and crashes on both generations of the iPad.
I have a first generation iPad and it really gives me fits.
One thing that helps is to reboot the iPad prior to using the app.
The good news is Apple is coming out with new iPad Pros in June.
