I have recently opened my third Instagram account. I decided that I wanted all my paintings in one account. My Seattle account wasn’t the right place for them, and my main account was just too full of too many photographs and edits and other things that I do. My new account can be found at kerrycmitchellpainter.
Then, as soon as I opened it, all of a sudden I started doing faces. I’ve been mostly painting them with watercolors in Rebelle on my computer. The iPad doesn’t have a super good watercolor app. I have used an app called Auryn Ink that’s pretty good, however.
Painter has lots of good watercolors that many people do wonderful things with. I’ve just never clicked with their watercolors. I prefer Rebelle’s watercolors. Probably because it takes less resources.
But I’m having so much fun with these faces. I haven’t done faces in years and I admit to being rusty.
So I headed over to a site called Drawing Coach. It has some very basic videos that are free that tell you where all the parts of the face belong. I got a little fuzzy on where the mouth went. On one of my paintings, it was way over on the left side, Then I had to take the painting into Painter, move it, then fix the blank area in the face, Ugh!
I also know very little about watercolor, but I’m having a lot of fun.
Rebelle recently updated to version 2 and it has improved a lot. More brushes, saves in pdf, etc.
You can get to my first two Instagram accounts by clicking on the links over on the right-hand side.
Love your artwork! Look forward to seeing more of it!

She is really cute. I think she’s been in the wine, though. Look at those red eyes. π I think you should name this one Party Girl. How terrifically fun.
