I spent the last two months on Maui. It was fantastic.
I love waking up each day and eating breakfast of scrambled eggs and fresh papaya on the lanai.
Then out to the beach to soak up sun.
Many afternoons, I was able to paint. I would sit looking out at the ocean and hear the waves lapping up on the shore.
I love bright colors. So the colors of the flowers on Maui were a big influence in this painting.
I really like this one, Kerry. The arrangement and movement of the piece work for me, and I like the light-dark contrast, too. Best, Carole

I love the combination of colours in this one. The oranges and yellows stand out really well against the darker purple.
As an aside, I have found myself wondering of late what would happen to your paintings if you were banned from using pink and pinky purples? I have yet to try digital painting (though your blog continues to niggle away at the back of my mind), but if I were to do so, I can’t help wondering if I would end up favouring the one colour noticeable by its absence in your paintings – blue! I don’t know, but I suspect red would be very poorly represented!

You notice very well. I have been in a period where I could not stand blue. However, in my last two paintings I have tentatively included just the slightest bit of blue. I haven’t blogged those yet.
