What A Ride

This is a digital pastel I did in Painter 2015.

I finally have done a piece I’m happy with.  I have struggled with my art lately.  I know what I want, but I can’t get the message from my brain to the paper.

I am trying to keep my work much looser.  This, I think, is crucial to getting good results.

I used my pastel brushes that I made in Painter 2015 for this pastel.  I am trying to get the effect of dry pastels.

Best of all, I had a lot of fun doing this pastel.

    Happy to see your art again Kerry! I find myself fascinated as I keep seeing little surprises all throughout the piece – you might have been frustrated, but I find it refreshing.

    Yes! I think you have achieved the effect of dry pastels.

    I like this one, too. Nice use of light and dark, and I think the composition as a whole works, too.

    It’s very interesting! And I mean that in the most positive way – I found myself looking at it for a very long time. I guess maybe intriguing is a better word! I really love the shapes in this one!

      Thanks, Tricia. I really appreciate what you said. Something I forgot to mention is that I figured out how to bring paint drips into the piece. I hope to use this technique in the future.

        I noticed there was a new element to this piece but I couldn’t figure out what it was! I like it. It brings a new texture in.
