I’ve Been Gone

Abstract-13c1

I was so excited when I started this blog.  I had so much energy.

Now, for the last couple of months, I’ve had a fibro flare.  It started with just a bit of tiredness.  Then that got worse.

Now, I’m having horrid, unbearable pain.  Well, not totally unbearable, as I’m bearing it.  But it’s bad.  Since about 1998, the pain has been pretty much under control with medication.  I’ve had a few episodes of breakthrough pain that last a few days at a time.

This pain started two months ago and is not giving me a break.

The doctor who treats me for Lyme decided to tell me to try taking fewer pain meds.  I did this, thinking he knew what he was talking about.  He didn’t.  After going down just 15 mg., the pain came and it has stayed.  I really dislike this man right now.  I’m working very hard on not hating him and not getting angry at him.  I’m trying to be able to handle my feelings towards him with trying to learn.  The lesson from this?  Don’t listen to doctor’s who give advice about areas where they know nothing.

I was doing so well.  I was able to get out of bed and go out for up to four hours at a time.  I always had to rest the next day, but I was getting out.

Not now.  I’m at home, in bed, in severe pain.

At least I can paint on the computer.  It takes me away for a while.

I had to laugh at myself when I read your post as I sat in front of the computer in FM pain from head to toe trying to do something creative. I thought “Kerry has the right idea–Go back to bed!” and I did. I’m slowly doing better after a bad month-long flare-up. I’ve never found any medication that helps, but overall I’m doing much better than I was 20 years ago. Hang in there and keep the art flowing.

PS. I’m always inspired by Matisse who, bedridden with cancer, unable to paint, came up with an incredible way to create–paper cutting. Here’s a link: http://www.henri-matisse.net/cut_outs.html

I saw my FM doctor yesterday and she said she has so many patients in a flare right now. The change of weather has a real influence on us, and not for the best. I hope you are soon feeling better.

Thank god for creative outlets! I’m sorry to hear that you’re dealing with a bad flare. Take good care of yourself and do self soothing things. That helps me out when I’m dealing with a flare.

I am so sorry that you are having so much pain. I agree with you about not taking advice from someone, even if it is a doctor, about something that is not their field of expertise. I understand your anger. Iy is wonderful that you can get away from the pain for a while by creating art. Art saves!
